Improve Your Craigslist Image

17 09 2009

I know it has been a while since I have blogged but with Angela planing our wedding and all I was a little bit busy.

Today I want to share something that I have been using for several months now but I think it is something that many of you should know about and use when trying to sell or rent something on Craigslist.

The service is called Postlets.

What Postlets does is help you create an html posting to be copied into Craigslist.  So instead of a plain text boring add you can create something that looks like this http://www.postlets.com/rts/2758046.

So far Postlets has categories for commercial and residential real estate as well as cars and trucks.

It is simple to use.  All you need to do is set up a free account and get to work.  When the product is finished you simply copy the code from Postlets and post it into Craigslist.

You will also be able to create a Postlets Gallery which looks like this http://akroncommercialrealestate.postlets.com/

I think that these ads are much easier on the eye and seem to draw more attention from prospects.  Another tip I would like to share is to only have your email address on the Postlet ad, not with Craigslist.  This will cut back on the junk email that you will receive.

I think that Mr. Joseph Woodward’s voice note from last night sums it all up.  Enjoy his great signing voice and Blair Witch Project type camera work.

Google Does it Again

16 07 2009

As I am sure many of you know, I LOVE GOOGLE.  Berto knows this, just ask him what happened to The Google Story.  If I remember the story correctly we were running to get on a ferry in Costa Rica and part of the book was sacrificed due to Berto’s bathroom issues.  The book was left behind for the next poor sap that ate whatever Bert did, or drank (Cacique).

Anyways I am getting excited for the release of Google Voice.

Check out this video, Google is taking over the world.

Send and Receive Free Text Messages by Email, Smartphone, SMS

23 06 2009

As many of you know I have never had text messaging on my phone.  While I was in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica I found out that in Costa Rica it costs .12 cents per text message.  That is about 8 text messages for a penny.  It was also free to accept text messages.  How is this possible?  They charge for the “Air Time” that a text message uses.

I recently upgraded to a BlackBerry and have Internet and data.  If I wanted to add text messaging it would have been an additional $20 per month.  I knew there had to be a way to send text messages easily through the Internet and this is what I found.

Each cell phone company has an email address that corresponds with your telephone number.  So if you know both the phone number and cell phone company of someone you will be able to text them for free through your email.

People that use standard texting are able to enter your email address instead of a number with no problem.

The formats are as follow:

Verizon: “10 digit telephone number”@vtext.com

AT&T: “10 digit telephone number”@txt.att.net

Alltel: “10 digit telephone number”@message.alltel.com

Sprint: “10 digit telephone number”@messaging.sprintpcs.com

T-Mobile: “10 digit telephone number”@tmomail.net

Cingulair:  “10 digit telephone number”@cingulairme.com

Nextel: “10 digit telephone number”@messaging.nextel.com

Virgin Mobile: “10 digit telephone number”@vmobl.com

It might even be a good idea to set up a seperate email address that you use for texting on your smartphone.

Google Goggles?

3 06 2009

It has been a long time since I posted and after much prodding by one Joseph Woodward I saw something I would like to share.

As many of you may know I have a crush on Google. (that is not a link to google.com but rather google.org, check out what they are doing)  I love everything that they do.  This week I got a blackberry and have been spending a lot of time making sure Google and my BB communicate the way that I would like them to.  During this time I discovered a feature for Gmail called “Mail Goggles.”  This thing is hilarious.

So you are about to hit send on an email written after a big night of drinking.  But thanks to mail goggles you will be required to answer some simple math problems before the email will be sent.  This is genius.  I luckily have never had a problem sending messages that I wish I hadn’t but I know some of you have.

You can set the days and times which you would like this feature to activate.  Might not work all that well for those of you that drink during weekdays.

Thank you GOOGLE

Cleveland Makes it to 30 Rock!

7 05 2009

Thought I should post another Cleveland video.  This one is a bit more positive but still features the street meat guy on Prospect and Ontario across from Fat Fish Blue.

Unfortunately I am having difficulty putting it into my blog.

These videos are hilarious.  I contemplated not posting them because I do love Cleveland but I think everyone should be able to enjoy these who have not yet seen them.

I hope they make more!

Copley Man and His DUI

8 04 2009

In the Akron Beacon Journal today there was an article about a ridiculous criminal.  Here is his story.

He goes to Applebees has a glass of wine.  He then goes across the street to Brubakers for a beer.  Then on to Steak-N-Shake for some late night food.  This guy is 39 years old.  Sounds like something that you do when you are 21.

The cops are called because he is causing a rukas at Steak-N-Shake and they encourage him to take a cab home which he does.  When he gets home he has a brilliant idea that he needs to prove to the Copley Police that he is not drunk and should be able to drive.  He drives his daughter’s car to the police station, asks for a breathalyzer and blows 0.12 and gets a DUI.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Weapons of Mass Destruction

7 04 2009

This is a pretty interesting video that I saw on Consumerist.

As we all know there are much more dangerous things in this world than bombs and missles.  The food that we chose to eat is about 4,000 times more dangerous than the “terrorists.”

Check out this trailer for Killer at Large…

Google April Fools Style

1 04 2009

Each year as you may or may not know Google has some sort of April fools joke.  In the past couple years they have had a hoax on each product they offer.

Todays best hoax, in my opinion, is the gmail autopilot which can be seen here.

This product makes it so that you do not have to respond to emails or instant messages.  All you have to do is set the correct level of Capitalization, Typos, Brevity and Emotion and it goes to work.

These April fools jokes really work on people too.  My friend Kat from Pittsburgh just asked how to use this thing.

The first time I saw a Google Hoax was in 2007 and I was in Costa Rica.  It was Google Paper.

What Google Paper does is prints all of your emails and sends them to you.

“But what about the environment?  Not a problem. Gmail Paper is made out of 96% post-consumer organic soybean sputum, and thus, actually helps the environment. For every Gmail Paper we produce, the environment gets incrementally healthier.”

I love GOOGLE.  Wikipedia has a good breakdown of the past Hoax’s here.

What is your favorite of all time?
